ShiftLease is a scooter hire business operating in East London. We are currently operating as a sole trader pending formal registration.

When you submit an application via our website we collect the following information:
Identity data: Your first name and last name.
Contact data: Your mobile phone number, email address, and postcode.
Licence and eligibility data: Your licence type (CBT or A1), age band, points or claims history, and years of riding experience. We collect this to assess whether you meet our eligibility criteria before we contact you.
Situational data (optional): Your reason for seeking a bike, which delivery platforms you work on, how urgently you need a bike, and any additional notes you choose to share. This is entirely optional and used only to match you to availability faster.
Technical data: Your IP address at the time of form submission. This is recorded automatically for security purposes only.
We do not collect payment card details, bank account information, national insurance numbers, or passport numbers through this website. Any financial information required for rental agreements is handled separately and directly between us.
Under UK GDPR we process your data on the following lawful bases:
Legitimate interests — to assess your application and contact you about scooter availability. We have a legitimate interest in evaluating whether applicants meet our eligibility criteria before committing a vehicle.
Contract — once a rental agreement is in place, we process your data as necessary to fulfil and manage that contract.
Legal obligation — we are required to retain certain records in accordance with UK financial and business record-keeping requirements.
We use the data you submit to contact you to confirm your application and discuss availability, assess your eligibility for rental based on age, licence type, and riding history, manage your rental agreement if you proceed, maintain our internal records of applicants and riders, and comply with any legal or regulatory obligations.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling beyond the eligibility scoring built into our application form, which you are informed of at the point of submission.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party under any circumstances.
WhatsApp: When we contact you following your application we use WhatsApp Business. Any messages exchanged via WhatsApp are subject to Meta's own privacy policy (meta.com/privacy). We recommend not sharing sensitive financial documents over WhatsApp.
IONOS (hosting): Our website and database are hosted by IONOS in accordance with their data processing agreement. Your form submission data is stored on IONOS servers located in the EU/UK.
We do not currently use any advertising platforms, analytics tools, or marketing automation services that would receive your personal data.
Unsuccessful applications: Retained for 6 months from the date of submission, then deleted.
Active rental agreements: Retained for the duration of the rental plus 6 years in accordance with UK business record-keeping requirements.
Completed or terminated rental agreements: Retained for 6 years from the end of the agreement in accordance with HMRC requirements.
If you would like your application data deleted before these periods expire, contact us at hello@shiftlease.co.uk. We will action deletion requests within 30 days unless we have a legal obligation to retain the data.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data, subject to any legal retention obligations.
Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to pause processing your data in certain circumstances.
Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format.
Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
This website uses session cookies only. Session cookies are temporary files that allow the application form to function securely — specifically to generate and validate a security token that prevents fraudulent form submissions (CSRF protection). These cookies expire when you close your browser.
